I wanted to create an untraditional card and tailor it to an art industry specific job. I am hoping to pursue a career in either graphic design/visual art/fashion and I need a card that will set me apart yet convey my intention. On the front I added a paint splatter to depict a more artistic side. On the back I added clean cut lines with my logo to display a more concise graphic edge. I believe both front and back combine well together to express my intentions of pursuing these various industries.
After attending CES, I have experienced a new sense of inspiration from the world of technology. Something interesting I noticed at the event was the amount of fitness trackers that are available (or soon to be available). Walking around, I wondered to myself how they compete with one another. From an outsiders perspective with limited product knowledge the fitness trackers seem to all have the same function and relatively similar style. After coming across this ad for Fitbit I instantly felt compelled to redesign it. The contrasting attempts to highlight the main points but it takes away from the purpose (product). There is just too much going on in the ad making it difficult for the company to get its point across.
(Although this trip is planned specifically for my sister and I, I am happy to share my findings with everyone!)
As you know we have been discussing a summer getaway for the two of us. As the more responsible sister I have taken it upon myself to plan us the adventure of a lifetime! I am so excited for us to embark on our journey to Thailand and Bali and explore a whole new world. We will experience the cultural history as well as the modern way of life. I am very excited for us to meet new people and learn to appreciate a different perspective and way of living. In addition, the travel costs are relatively cheap making this the ideal college students summer destination.
I have created a timeline to give you a breakdown of each location we will visit within Thailand and Bali. You can think of the timeline as a rough itinerary for our trip. Visit the link to find out more! I have planned us the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation. We will visit Bangkok, Khao Yai National Park, Phuket, Krabi and Ko Phi Phi. Also, we will specifically visit Ubud, Bali!
Although Thailand and Bali offer some of the most beautiful sights, the real reason we are going is for the food. 🙂 We are both foodies who know how to appreciate good food. Thailand is a food lovers paradise and we definitely will not be hungry this vacation! The variety of flavors (spicy, sweet, sour and salty) used in Thai cuisine create a mouthful of deliciousness. I think above all I am looking forward to trying these dishes, and I’m sure you will feel the same way once you take a look!
July 29th can’t come any sooner, so pack your bags and bring your empty stomach because we are about to experience the best vacation yet!
p.s I would not have been able to plan a successful trip without the help from these sources.
Welcome to my blog, and thank you for joining me on this adventure. This blog will contain; photos, words of wisdom, creative projects and various other outlets that inspire me, which will hopefully thus inspire you!
When you think of the words Pura Vida or live free, an infinite amount of ideas may rush to your mind. And this is exactly why I chose this phrase as my point of inspiration. I would like to share my interpretations, through the images that I have created. Maybe before proceeding you can stop to think about these words and how they inspire you?
To me one aspect of Pura Vida is nature, and the openness of it. Specifically, the ocean and the feeling of freedom associated with it. I believe the sea is an open front for free spirited adventure. Each experience you have with the ocean is different then the one before, enticing you to explore further.
This image includes the text “somewhere to go, and nowhere to be” which I believe is the perfect abstract definition of the ocean, as well as Pura Vida. It shows an understanding of the unlimited and open possibilities.
My next image displays the masked text of an ocean as a foreshadow of what may come. The future may seem somewhat known, yet is completely unknown at the same time. This is why we must embrace each forthcoming adventure with open arms.
The water displayed in this image is a free force of nature, within itself, and for anyone to come and use. The hand is releasing the butterflies and flowers so they too can be free. Every individual has the ability to be open to trying new things, you just need to let yourself go and do it!
Finally, I wanted to share this image because eating pineapples on a tropical island is definitely encompassed within my definition of living easy & free. 😉
I believe living free means having the ability to pursue new things with an open mind. So from all of this, hopefully you are inspired to accept the openness that may come your way.
A Clear Mind = An Open Heart
